“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1
Why did John begin his Gospel by speaking of the Word? When John speaks of the “Word” does he refer to information, a concept, an idea or something else? John does not immediately explain who the Word is, but clearly reveals it in v. 14, when he says that the “… Word has become flesh and once lived among us” … Dear friends, God has manifested himself to humanity through the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Word of God. can note from the above verse, the Word does not have a beginning, but has always existed. John clearly wants to announce to everyone that Jesus Christ is God. In fact, Jesus Christ, coming to earth, perfectly revealed the nature of God, because He is the Word of God. Jesus, dying on the cross, communicated to us how much God the Father loves. We are called to recognize Jesus as true man and true God. It is not enough to say that Jesus Christ is “a god”, or that he is similar to God, but we must clearly affirm what the whole Bible teaches, that is, that Jesus is God.
At the beginning of this month, reflect on how much space Jesus Christ, the Word of God, occupies in your life!
In the One who can do everything!
